The Portrait is an original text by Miguel Graça inspired by Nikolai Gógol’s short story of the same name, about the rise and fall of the painter Tchartkov. How his soul as an artist is corrupted by success and he ends up dying alone, sunk in regret for not recognizing what he was and what he could have been. Centered on words and interpretation, this monologue thrives on a direct relationship with the audience and on a stage stripping that illustrates its own soul.
