SNCI#2
Performance for a lighting disc, a perfomer and a musician
‘Sur la Nature des choses invisibles #2’ is part of a multiform cycle of performances and installations where alternative ways of looking at and relating to the senses arise. We are attempting to create devices that will alter the experience of time, shift the viewer’s gaze and open up new areas of the imagination.
SNCI #2 was initially conceived as an loop installation. A luminous disc hangs in an empty space and irradiates a dense, warm light. Between the light source and the public eye, filters give the light body and volume. The technological device adopts a complex pattern in which random variables influence predetermined scenarios. As a result, the eye experience a field of perception where light shifts from a state of almost tangible substance to one where it becomes the very substance of the entire space – a space irradiated with colour. The device subtlety reminds us that seeing is not equivalent to grasp what we see.
At DeVIR/CAPa, we will work on a 30-minute performance as an inflexion within the installation. With the performer and singer Aliénor H., we will explore the relationship between the body, the light disc and the sound environment processed in real time.”
